Being a music minister for quite some time attracts these questions: Do you have any music? How can we find you? When do you plan to launch your own album? Taraji Band has definitely not been exempted from these sentiments. As a worship ministry, we celebrate producing our first single “My Refuge” in July 2020. The genesis of this song came in the most unprecedented ways.

In September 2019, Taraji Band initiated a song-writing department, which has been working diligently for a worship sound. In the midst of robust creative activity, the COVID-19 pandemic emerged. This definitely shook the team, as different members lost their livelihoods, and as the band canceled some ministry opportunities. Admittedly, the pandemic put ALL the band activity on hold.

It was in the uncertain silence that one of our partners, Confrey Alianji, reached out for us to do a song that spreads hope in the midst of the pandemic. He also drew one of our friends, Francis Irungu, who co-created the song with us. The song is special to us not only because it’s our first release, but also because it speaks into every member’s vulnerability. As the song illuminates Psalm 91, our prayer is that it spreads a wave of Godly hope to the nations.

This year began for us with a total disaster. Our house was burned down and we literally lost everything. We wish for nothing more but to be able to live back in a place where we have spent the last 50 years together.
